With over 30 years of experience, Sam has managed over $25 billion in acquisitions, spin-offs, refinancing, and debt offerings. He has experience across multiple healthcare verticals, including medical devices, diagnostics, biologics, drug discovery and healthcare services, as well as advising start-ups on product design, regulatory and payor strategies, capital raises and exit strategies.
Sam served as Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary, and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs during his 15-year career at LabCorp (NYSE: LH). He held enterprise-wide responsibility for the Legal, Compliance, Corporate Secretary, Government Relations, Privacy and Security functions.
Previously, Sam was a partner and served on the Board and the Investment Committee for MedCap Funds in Boston, MA, an early-stage health care technology fund.
Sam is an Independent Director at VB Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: VBOC), a Senior Advisor with Invescore, and a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University Law School, where he teaches business strategy.
Chris is an experienced and proven healthcare leader who’s served in senior and executive roles within the diagnostics laboratory industry for over 30 years, including the three largest laboratories in the country.
Chris has been on both sides of more than 25 lab transactions, and most recently served as CEO of Genelex before successfully selling to Invitae. He served as the Senior VP of Business Development at Unilab, where he was responsible for driving strategy and revenue from $90M to over $400M in four years. This made Unilab the 3rd largest lab in the country at the time, and Chris was integral in their IPO and eventual sale to Quest Diagnostics for ~$730M. He also spent three years as a General Manager for one of LabCorp’s 33 divisional laboratories and eight years as Regional Director of a $900M business unit.
Chris has led his own private market lab transactions since 2004 (including Genelex) and actively invests in early-stage companies. He is a board member of DecisionRX and Innovative Health Diagnostics and an advisor for several other privately-held healthcare companies.
Stan Abiassi, Founder and Principal of Market Street Capital manages the firm’s activities and operations. Before starting Market Street Capital, Stan was the director of finance for a NASDAQ listed, $4B bank building its commercial paper, doing M&A, construction and development, bond placements, and structured and insured credit offerings and financings. Stan managed over 400 institutional partnerships during his tenure, both domestically and internationally. He started his finance career working in the private equity sector of the public markets, partnering with the former head of equity capital markets for Bear Stearns in a PIPE fund. The fund worked directly with middle market and small cap public companies, as well as private companies, desiring to access the public markets. Prior to his career in finance, Stan was employed by the world’s largest health and fitness club chain. He was able to watch and learn as each milestone was attained in its evolution; from raising north of $500M for growth purposes, from Forstmann, Little and Co. to understanding what a successful exit looks like when the company sold for $1.6B.
Has 5 exits that range from $50 million to $250 million. He has invested in over 40 companies personally. He has built Go-To-Markets for companies like GOOGLE, NETSUITE, SYSCO and more. His technology background has allowed him to help build medical data piles that are worth over $2 billion dollars in yearly value.
